


On June 28, the Obon Festival will begin with the Hatsubon & Obon Service at 4 p.m. followed by the tour of temple at 5:30 p.m., “Momotaro, the Peach Boy” storytelling at 6 p.m., and the Bon Odori Dance at 7:30 p.m. Additionally, the Koyasan Spirit of Children’s Taiko Group (drummers) will perform at 8:15 p.m.
The Obon Festival is free and open to the public.
Four dance practice sessions for the Bon Odori Dance will be held at the Marysville Buddhist Church Annex Hall (125 B Street in Marysville) on June 17, 19, 24 and 26 from 7 to 9 p.m. All are welcome to join the dance practice sessions and dance at the festival on June 28.
The event also features teriyaki chicken or teriyaki tofu box dinners including rice, string bean aemono, tsukemono, orange slices, and dessert. The cost of a boxed dinner is $20. Prepaid dinners may be reserved. Prepaid dinners are strongly recommended by June 19. Limited quantities will be available after 6 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis.
