The NBA has set the salary cap for the coming season at $154.647 million, the maximum allowed 10% increase over the level for this past season.
The tax level for the 2025-26 season is $187.895 million, the league said Monday. The cap and tax go into effect today, and the league’s moratorium period for most signings will be lifted on Sunday.
Other numbers set by the league for the coming season:
— The minimum team salary is $139.182 million.
— The first apron level is $195.945 million.
— The second apron level is $207.824 million.
The midlevel exception levels were set at $14.104 million for non-taxpayer levels, $5.685 million for taxpayer levels and $8.781 million for teams with room under the salary cap.
The Houston Rockets continued their offseason improvements, adding veteran forward Dorian Finney-Smith on a four-year, $53 million deal shortly after the NBA’s free agency window officially opened. ESPN first reported the deal, and a person with knowledge of the agreement confirmed the terms to The Associated Press.
Houston becomes Finney-Smith’s fourth team after stints with Dallas, Brooklyn and the Lakers.
ESPN also reported that the Rockets’ run on free agents continued with the addition of center Clint Capela, who spent the first six years of his career in Houston before playing for the last five seasons in Atlanta. Capela agreed to a three-year deal with the Rockets, ESPN said.
The Brooklyn Nets are trading forward Cam Johnson to the Denver Nuggets for forward Michael Porter Jr. and 2032 first-round draft pick.
The Spurs lured center Luke Kornet away from Boston with a four-year, $41 million deal.
Center Kevon Looney agreed to a two-year deal with New Orleans, after he spent his first 10 seasons with Golden State.
Dallas agreed with D’Angelo Russell on a two-year contract worth nearly $13 million.
Atlanta added Nickeil Alexander-Walker from Minnesota on what will be a four-year, $62 million deal following a completion of a sign-and-trade with the Timberwolves. Minnesota will get a draft pick, cash considerations and will create a trade exception once the deal is finalized.
The Magic added Tyus Jones on a one-year deal. Jones’ brother, Tre Jones, agreed on a three-year deal to return to the Bulls.

The Miami Dolphins are sending All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey, Pro Bowl tight end Jonnu Smith and a 2027 seventh-round draft pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and a 2027 fifth-round pick.
Ramsey announced the trade Monday in a post on his X account. Both his representation and the Dolphins, where he spent the past two seasons, had mutually agreed earlier this year to part ways.
Neither Ramsey nor the Dolphins gave any insight into what went wrong. Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said in April that Ramsey did not ask for a trade or for more money, but after weeks of conversations with Ramsey’s representation, both sides agreed that it would be best to move on.
A person familiar with the trade confirmed that the Dolphins will get Fitzpatrick, who returns to the team that drafted him 11th overall in 2018. He had been displeased with his role in Miami and requested a trade before being sent to the Steelers in 2019.

The Florida Panthers completed another hat trick less than two weeks since repeating as Stanley Cup champions.
After Aaron Ekblad, Brad Marchand and Sam Bennett said they never wanted to leave South Florida, they got their wish. Days after locking up Bennett long term, the Panthers have agreed to re-sign Ekblad and Marchand, according to people familiar with the agreements.
Ekblad agreed to an eight-year deal with an average value of $6.1 million, while Marchand agreed to a six-year deal that Sportsnet reported would be worth around $5 million annually.
Edmonton got a deal done with defenseman Evan Bouchard for $42 million over four years.
Columbus agreed to terms with Ivan Provorov on a seven-year contract worth $59.5 million.
The New York Islanders signed Alexander Romanov to an eight-year contract.
The Wild acquired winger Vladimir Tarasenko from the Red Wings for future considerations. Tarasenko, 33, has one year left on his contract at a salary cap hit of $4.75 million. He helped Florida win the Cup last year.
Detroit re-signed winger Patrick Kane to a one-year deal with a $3 million salary plus performance bonuses.
Vegas acquired Mitch Marner in a sign-and-trade with Toronto. Marner’s deal is reportedly worth $96 million over eight years after Vegas sent center Nicolas Roy to the Maple Leafs. Marner, 28, is coming off setting career highs with 75 assists and 102 points.
