Fix the streets
You know, when you raise citizens’ utilities over the last three years by 40%, and then you let the streets in Longmont go to complete garbage. Every single street in Longmont is garbage. You find me a street without a pothole or a crack, and I’ll give you $100. This is ridiculous. Somebody needs to do something about this, and if it means reelecting someone, then I’m all for it.
Free parking
I decided I should balance the TC Line with some positive accolades, so this week’s shout out goes to the city of Longmont for still having free parking everywhere downtown. I love that. I hope it continues despite the development, and I think it’s one of those things that pays outsized dividends to resident satisfaction, so thank you.
Dickens park
I see people calling in about the city wasting money, such as at the airport and with the bus subsidy. Another example is at Dickens park. That park cost $8 million to build and is less than 10 years old, but looks awful. All the grass is dead. All the trees are dead. Weeds everywhere. It’s just pathetic how the city wastes money on building things and then doesn’t maintain them.
License tracking
Denver had a license tracking system that recovered 170 stolen vehicles and was the cause of 300 arrests in 2024. This year, they canceled the program because other law enforcement agencies might be able to use the information to track illegal immigrants to deport. What kind of madness is this?
