Pittsburgh Steelers star outside linebacker T.J. Watt is in the hospital after experiencing discomfort in his lungs.

Coach Mike Tomlin said the seven-time All-Pro and 2021 NFL Defensive Player of the Year was sent to the hospital for evaluation on Wednesday after experiencing discomfort while receiving treatment.

Watt was scheduled to undergo testing later Thursday, Tomlin said.

“He and I communicated last night,” Tomlin said. “He was comfortable and that’s all I have really at this point.”

The Steelers had the day off on Wednesday, an adjustment to their schedule this week to accommodate playing against Miami on Monday night in Week 15. It’s common for players to come in during their days off to receive medical treatment.

Tomlin saw Watt in the cafeteria on Wednesday, which is when Tomlin said he became “aware” of what he described as Watt’s “lung situation.”

Watt had been on the injury report last week with a toe problem but was ready in time to make his 56th straight regular-season start for the Steelers (7-6).

LAMB EXPECTED BACK

CeeDee Lamb appears set to return from a concussion without missing a game for the Dallas Cowboys, who will play Minnesota at home 10 days after their star receiver exited a loss in Detroit.

Lamb was a full practice participant and talked to reporters Thursday, two strong signs he will be on the field Sunday night without missing a game as the Cowboys (6-6-1) try to keep their playoff hopes alive. Dallas trails Philadelphia by 1 1/2 games with four to play in the NFC East, while the Vikings (5-8) are on the verge of postseason elimination.

The 2023 All-Pro said he was still technically in concussion protocol.

“It’s been a lot of like eye work and eye discipline and trying to, I guess, frustrate myself essentially to see if I have any more residuals of the concussion,” Lamb said. “And I haven’t had any type of symptoms. As for me now, it’s been heavy on rest, to be honest. Doing everything, me knowing my requirements, kind of getting ahead of everything, especially with the extra two-to-three days that we had off. I feel like that was big.”

BRONCOS WAIVE LEWIS

The Broncos have waived 41-year-old Marcedes Lewis, the oldest tight end to play in an NFL game.

Lewis appeared in four games as a point-of-attack blocker. He made one start, on Nov. 6 against Las Vegas.

That came four days after he made history by subbing into the Week 9 game. He said afterward that becoming the oldest tight end ever to play in the NFL “means everything” to him.
