Scotts Valley High’s girls lacrosse team, the runner-up in the Pacific Coast Athletic League Gabilan Division, received the No. 3 seed for the Central Coast Section Division II playoffs.

The Falcons (11-2) face No. 6 Burlingame (8-7) at Harbor High in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 1 p.m.

In other quarterfinals on Saturday, No. 1 Gunn (14-3) hosts No. 8 Castilleja (16-3) at noon, No. 2 Woodside (12-3) hosts No. 7 Live Oak (14-1) at 1 p.m., and No. 4 Los Altos (9-6) hosts No. 5 Sequoia (11-5) at noon.

The semifinals take place Thursday, and the championship will be held at Carlmont High in Belmont on May 18 at 3:30 p.m.

GWM Sydney Surf Pro >> Santa Cruz’s Nat Young will compete in the World Surf League’s GWM Sydney Surf Pro, event No. 2 on the Challenger Series, in Sydney, NSW, Australia.

Young, ranked No. 25 on the CS through one event, faces No.5 Michael Rodrigues of Brazil, No. 49 Michael Dunphy of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Cody Young of Hawaii in Heat 14 of the Round of 64 when action resumes.

The competition window opened Wednesday and runs through May 16.
