A single male suspect is being sought in the Saturday morning armed bank robbery at Chase Bank, 66 Main St. in Hobart.
Hobart Police Capt. James M. Gonzales said a witness told police the man entered the bank about 11:25 a.m. and gave the teller a note and displayed a pistol, tucked in his waistband. The teller gave the man, who wore a black mask, baseball cap and hoodie, an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.
The man fled east across Main Street to a silver-colored Jeep SUV parked in a dry cleaners lot.
The FBI is heading the investigation along with Hobart and Lake County police.

The robbery came one day after two men ambushed and killed a 55-year-old security guard during a robbery at First Midwest Bank, 1975 W. Ridge Road in Calumet Township. Both suspects wore black clothing and hooded sweatshirts. Police arrested one man Friday as a search continued for the second suspect.
The security guard was identified by the Lake County coroner’s office as Richard Castellana of Tinley Park, Illinois. He was a retired Cook County Sheriff’s officer.
