Kenneth "Ken" Anthony Kozar, 80, of Lyons Colorado passed away suddenly March 24, 2025 while doing something he loved, hunting with friends and his bird dog, Zoom.
Ken was born in Ely, Minnesota to Rose and Anthony Kozar, both immigrants from Yugoslavia (Slovenia).
Growing up in Ely, Minnesota, Ken enjoyed fishing, canoeing, hunting, and camping.
He lived a full life as a marathon runner, canoe racer, hunter, and fisherman. Encouraged to further his education by his father, Ken graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems and a minor in Sociology/Psychology.
After meeting his wife, Nancy, in Green Bay they were married in Green Bay, Wisconsin in 1982. They enjoyed traveling and seeing all the natural beauty of the National Parks and the scenic beauty of all of the states.
Ken was an international consultant for Gane and Sarson. He taught information systems at University of Calgary School of Management, University of Saskatchewan School of Computational Science, Indiana University Graduate School of Business and University of Colorado Boulder Leeds School of Business. He authored two books about information systems, "Humanized Information Systems Analysis and Design: People Building Systems for People" and "Introduction to Operations & Information Management Systems".
Ken was the Associate Dean of Faculty at University of Colorado Boulder Leeds School of Business. He retired from the Colorado Boulder Leeds School of Business after 18 years of being an educator. In his retirement, he loved fishing, hunting, spending time with his friends and volunteering at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church.
Ken is survived by his wife of 42 years Nancy Lax Kozar, his two sisters, Leone DeBernardi, and Marie Klun, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Anthony Kozar, his sisters, Rose Scott, Dolores Maki, and Jeannette Steinert.
In lieu of flowers, Ken would wish donations to either American Brittany Rescue, River's Promise, PreBorn! or St. John Vianney Theological Seminary in Denver.
A graveside service will occur Monday, April 7, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Foothills Garden Of Memories Cemetery, 14241 N. 107th Street, Longmont, CO.
