The Michigan Department of Transportation invites the public to provide input on future investments on Woodward Avenue between Detroit and Pontiac.
Two open houses will offer transportation and safety data and previous municipal plans, as well as the opportunity to provide feedback.
MDOT is devising a strategic plan for Woodward between Adams Avenue in downtown Detroit and the Woodward Loop in Pontiac.
The plan “outlines potential improvements on Woodward Avenue that consider environmental, historic preservation and economic goals,” MDOT said in a release.
The open houses will be held from 3-6 p.m. on these dates and in these locations:
• Thursday, June 12, Baldwin Public Library, 300 W. Merrill St., Birmingham
• Tuesday, June 17,Cadillac Place, 3044 W. Grand Blvd., Room L150, Detroit.
Community representatives, business owners and residents are invited. Paper surveys will be available, as well as a link to an online version. The link will also be posted soon on MDOT’s website, michigan.gov/mdot.
Attendees who require mobility, visual, hearing, written, or other assistance should contact Orlando Curry at 517-241-7462 or CurryO@Michigan.gov, preferably at least five business days before the meeting. You can find forms at https://www.michigan.gov/MDOT/Programs/Title-VI
Requests made after this timeframe will be evaluated and honored if possible.
MDOT held open houses virtually and in Pleasant Ridge earlier this year. Future open houses will be planned in other cities along Woodward.
In addition to Detroit, Woodward traverses the Oakland County communities of Ferndale, Pleasant Ridge, Huntington Woods, Royal Oak, Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield Township, Bloomfield Hills and Pontiac.
