A Humboldt County woman was killed earlier this month while walking on Highway 101 near Ukiah, the California Highway Patrol reported.

According to the CHP, officers responded to Hwy. 101 just south of Lake Mendocino Drive around 2:10 p.m. Aug. 22 to investigate a hit-and-run collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian that had occurred in the northbound lanes.

The collision resulted in the death of 41-year-old Aimee Younkin, listed as having a mail address in Arcata, and investigators believe that she was hit sometime between Thursday, Aug. 8 and Saturday, Aug. 10.
