Learn how to control cat population at workshop Saturday

In an effort to control feral cat populations, the public is invited to attend a workshop Saturday that teaches how to trap, neuter and return cats to their outdoor environments.

“TNR (trap-neuter-return) is the only humane, proven solution to controlling feral cat populations,” according the website of Triple R Pets, a nonprofit organization hosting the event.

The event will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the South Suburban Humane Society, 1103 W. End Ave., Chicago Heights.

“You'll learn the tricks of baiting and setting humane traps to make your job easier,” according to an event release.

The organizations will provide information about low-cost clinics for neutering and caring for cats. Traps are available on loan with a $100 deposit fully refundable when traps are returned. Donated food is available for registered caretakers.
