Snell (1-0), who signed with the Dodgers as a free agent in the offseason, allowed two runs and five hits in five innings.
Shohei Ohtani homered in the seventh for the Dodgers (3-0).
YANKEES 4, BREWERS 2 >> Austin Wells became the first catcher to hit a leadoff homer on Opening Day, Anthony Volpe also went deep and host New York beat Milwaukee.
Vinny Capra hit his first big league homer in the third for the Brewers.
WHITE SOX 8, ANGELS 1 >> Sean Burke pitched six sparkling innings and Will Venable got his first win as a big league manager, directing host Chicago over Los Angeles.
Andrew Benintendi, Lenyn Sosa and Austin Slater homered for the White Sox, who last season went 41-121 to break the post-1900 major league record for losses.
RED SOX 5, RANGERS 2 >> Wilyer Abreu hit a three-run shot in the ninth inning for his second homer of the opener, powering visiting Boston past Texas.
Kevin Pillar had an RBI single in his first at-bat for Texas in the second.
PHILLIES 7, NATIONALS 3 >> Alec Bohm hit a tiebreaking two-run double in the 10th inning and J.T. Realmuto added a two-run triple, lifting visiting Philadelphia over Washington.
Keibert Ruiz homered for the Nationals. Washington’s MacKenzie Gore had 13 strikeouts, allowing one hit in six shutout innings.
PADRES 7, BRAVES 4 >> Pinch-hitter Gavin Sheets’ tying homer kicked off host San Diego’s four-run rally in the seventh inning, Jackson Merrill drove in four runs and the Padres beat Atlanta.
Ozzie Albies hit a two-run homer and drove in three runs for the Braves.
GUARDIANS 7, ROYALS 4, 10 inn. >> Kyle Manzardo had a two-run double in the 10th inning to tie the club record for most RBIs on Opening Day and visiting Cleveland defeated Kansas City. Manzardo joined Tris Speaker (1925) and Leon Wagner (1964) with four RBIs on Opening Day.
ASTROS 3, METS 1 >> Framber Valdez pitched seven scoreless innings and Josh Hader struck out Juan Soto with two on in the ninth inning to save host Houston’s win over New York.
Soto singled and walked twice in his Mets debut after signing a record $765 million, 15-year contract as a free agent this offseason.
MARLINS 5, PIRATES 4 >> Kyle Stowers hit a run-scoring single in the ninth inning to give host Miami a win over Pittsburgh. Pirates starter Paul Skenes struck out seven over 5 1/3 innings of two-run ball.
ROCKIES SIGN OF MONIAK >> The Colorado Rockies added outfield depth by agreeing to a $1.25 million, one-year deal with Mickey Moniak, who was released by the Angels on Tuesday.
