Age 74, Cannon Falls, died on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at the Regina Hospital in Hastings.

When Kathryn was 16 years old she acquired an interest in collecting recipes from every place possible. She was also a planner. Being a planner was something she loved to do. She planned and cooked for funerals, graduations, weddings, and seminars for her church. At one time she owned 200 cookbooks, not to mention a tremendous list of creative recipes.

Kathryn graduated from Humboldt High School in 1968. In February 1969 she married her longtime boyfriend, Joseph McKnight. Joe was sent to Viet Nam just afew days after they married. He was killed on May 12, 1969 and he is forever in her heart.

In October of 1970 she married Lyman Otley. They had two precious daughters, and as a family they traveled and discovered new sights on the West Coast. Kathryn and Lyman were divorced in 1988 after 18 years of marriage. Later in life, she met and married Pastor Mark Shaw. They were handed Five Fold Ministries to oversee. They changed the name to Collegium Ministries and began to form a school of ministry. Kathryn received her bachelor degree in Biblical Counseling from Biblical Life College and Seminary. She continued her studies in the master degree program in Biblical Counseling at Collegium Bible Institute. She spent the rest of her life mentoring all those that came her way. She was pleased with the life God called her to as well as all the students God put in her care. Kathryn loved each and every one of them, as though they were her own children.

Survivors include her husband Mark; children Jennifer and Elizabeth; several grandchildren; step-children, step-grandchildren and step-greatgrandchildren; brothers Tom and John; and sisters Patty and Judy. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Jimmy.
