Alfred Jefferson, 89, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, in Longmont, CO. He left a legacy of kindness, warmth, and service to others. His wife of 66 years, Patricia, survives him, along with his children, Paul, Matthew, and Anne, and five grandchildren.
He served in the Panama Canal Zone during his early naval career. He taught English at the University of Oshkosh, WI. He worked for the US Department of Labor as an advocate for equal employment opportunity in the Office of Federal Contract Compliance.
He became the regional director of the OFCC in Pittsburgh, PA, and retired to Longmont, CO.
Alfred gave back to his community through numerous volunteer activities. He was a counselor in prison ministries. He, his wife, Pat, and his dog, were active in the HABIC program, helping autistic children through animal therapy. He was a storyteller to 3rd graders in the public schools. He is remembered for his volunteer work with the St. Vrain Historical Society when he played the role of Charles Hover, leading tours of the historic Hover Home in Longmont.
Alfred was an active member of St. Mary Magdalene Church in Boulder.
A celebration of life service will be held June 28th at 11 AM at St. Mary Magdalene, located at 4775 Cambridge in Boulder.
