The regular prep volleyball season has come to a close, leaving the first leg of the postseason up to the best 36 teams in each of the top four classifications in the state. From Class 5A all the way down to Class 2A, the Boulder, Longmont and Broomfield areas will be well-represented.

Peak to Peak and Lyons will serve as the lone hosts from the area, as Niwot and Legacy will double up all the way down at Pueblo West. Each team will play two matches at every regional, and whoever wins both of their contests will advance to the state tournament next weekend at the Denver Coliseum.

Class 5A

Region 10

Teams: No. 10 Pueblo West, No. 15 Niwot and No. 27 Legacy

The 21-2 Cyclones boast a strong attack headlined by Rylee Lambert (276 kills) as Niwot (16-7) will look to Bella Berger (199 kills) and Elise Arends (315 digs) to pace the Cougars offensively and defensively. Legacy, at 15-8, houses two offensive weapons with Reagan Bayley (252 kills) and Aislin Oldach (239 kills).

Class 5A Region 11

Teams: No. 11 Cherokee Trail, No. 14 Broomfield and No. 26 Westminster

Cherokee Trail will enter the postseason with a 16-6 mark and boasts two players with 200-plus kills thanks to Ella Notheisen (239) and Kassie Cooley (219). The Eagles, by comparison, excelled with a 19-4 mark, thanks in large part to the offensive prowess of Addie Dotson (245 kills) and defensive acumen of Camryn Von der Hofen (267 digs). Westminster, at 21-2, relies mostly on Kiara Deleon (250 kills).

Class 5A Region 12

Teams: No. 12 Loveland, No. 13 Erie and No. 25 Grandview

Loveland mastered its schedule with a 17-6 record and owed much of that success to Sienna Thatcher, who ranked eighth in the state with 362 kills. The 19-4 Tigers split the brunt of their attack between Sutton Sales (235 kills) and Tegan Cerveny (225 kills), while Avery Malek (423 digs) held down the defense. Grandview struggled a bit more with a 12-11 mark and focuses almost its entire attack around Sajal Glunz (235 kills) and Savannah Adams (227 kills).

Class 4A

Region 3

Teams: No. 3 Palisade, No. 22 Steamboat Springs and No. 34 Longmont

The 11-12 Trojans squeaked into the postseason as one of the last seeds and will rely on Ella Augustaitus (323 kills) and Luna Ready (287 digs) to help carry them into tough competition. Palisade had quite the peachy season with a 20-3 mark and boasts a strong line of attack behind Sabrina Landman (290 kills) and Addie Ritterbush (262 kills). Steamboat Springs (15-7) houses just one heavy hitter with Ava Hicks (246 kills).

Class 4A Region 12

Teams: No. 12 Roosevelt, No. 13 Mead and No. 25 Wellington

Roosevelt takes the lead with a 16-7 record and houses three players with 120-plus kills, led by Leah Inlow (179). The Mavericks trail just slightly at 15-8 and owe a lot of their offensive success to sister duo Hailey Hall (263 kills) and Cailin Hall (437 assists). Wellington (13-10) circulates a good chunk of its attack around Tegan McIntyre (285 kills).

Class 3A

Region 1

Teams: No. 1 Eaton, No. 24 Salida and No. 36 Jefferson Academy

The 9-14 Jaguars earned the final bid for the 3A postseason after enjoying maximum production from Monica Slusser (178 kills) and Katerina Shadrach (124 kills). Eaton (21-2) will provide quite the challenge, especially from Annabelle Dejager (344 kills) and Madi Smith (249 kills). Salida comes into the tournament with a 14-9 record, and Caroline Wooddell (233 kills) is its biggest weapon.

Class 3A Region 9

Teams: No. 9 Peak to Peak, No. 16 Cedaredge and No. 28 Aspen

The 18-5 Pumas excelled through the Metro League thanks to top contributions from Alexandra Eschmeyer (296 kills) and Lhadze Olsen (350 digs). They’ll play host to a 16-6 Cedaredge team led by Carley Malinowski (177 kills) and a 12-10 Skiers team that boasts four players with more than 100 kills.

Class 3A Region 12

Teams: No. 12 Strasburg, No. 13 The Classical Academy and No. 25 Prospect Ridge Academy

Strasburg takes the lead with a 14-9 record and three players with more than 200 kills, but TCA boasts a better record at 17-6 with just one player, Ashlyn Delaney, breaking the triple-digit kill mark (170). The Miners, after finishing the regular season with a 13-10 mark, have four players with more than 100 kills, led by Ceira Trinta (142).

Class 2A

Region 3

Teams: No. 3 Lyons, No. 22 Buena Vista and No. 34 Front Range Christian

The Lions excelled through their 20-3 showing this year and saw the most production from Michaela Coleman (215 kills) and Annabelle Hay (207 kills). Buena Vista, at 13-10, will make the long trip up with three players who have scored on 144 or more kills. FRCS barely broke .500 with a 12-11 mark, and owes much of its scoring success to Eadlin Hoff (267 kills).
