Detectives probe shooting in street

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that injured one person near the apartment buildings along Cole Drive.

The incident happened at about 1:40 p.m. Monday. The victim was standing outside his vehicle listening to music when a masked attacker pulled out a gun and fired at him, sheriff’s Sgt. Adam Schermerhorn said.

The shooter fled, and investigators do not have a detailed description. The victim’s injuries were superficial, Schermerhorn said.

Authorities alerted parents of students in the Sausalito Marin City School District about the shooting. Nixon Diaz, the district’s director of communication and technology, said regular bus service continued but staff members planned to accompany students walking home near the crime scene.

TIBURON

Pedestrian signal added above road

The California Department of Transportation has installed a pedestrian signal on Tiburon Boulevard at Neds Way.

The signal, called a “pedestrian hybrid beacon,” is on a boom over the road, also known as Highway 131 or State Route 131.

“The PHB is a traffic-control device designed to help pedestrians safely cross higher-speed roadways at midblock crossings and uncontrolled intersections,” a statement from Caltrans said. “The new beacon will allow pedestrians to cross SR-131 without walking a long distance to a standard traffic signal.”

The Neds Way intersection is next to the Tiburon Police Department.

LARKSPUR

Board set to review revised home plan

The Planning Commission has set a public hearing on a hillside home construction plan.

The property is at 21 Chevy Chase Court at the end of Owlswood Drive, a private road. The owner wants to build a 1,890-square-foot two-story residence, an attached 506-square-foot garage and an attached 468-square-foot junior accessory dwelling unit, according to the city planning office. The building sizes have been reduced from a proposal the commission reviewed in November.

The project requires a setback variance, a natural state variance, a floor area ratio exception and a slope use permit. The commission will hold the hearing during its meeting at 7 p.m. March 25 at City Hall.
