‘TULLY’
R
What it’s about: An exhausted mother seeks solace with a night nanny.
The kid attractor factor: This is a dark drama about motherhood — kids are in it, but it won’t be a draw for younger audiences.
Violence: A car crash, some tantrums and outbursts.
Language: Swearing and strong language throughout.
Sexuality: Sex scenes (on TV and between characters), some nudity and discussion of sex.
Drugs: Drinking.
Parents advisory: Far too dark for kids, but fine for teens.
‘THE SEAGULL’
PG-13
What it’s about: An adaptation of the turn-of-the-century Anton Chekhov play.
The kid attractor factor: This is more of an adult drama, but some theater-interested teens might be intrigued.
Violence: The shooting of a bird and its bloody carcass, as well as a suicide attempt with a shotgun, the resulting wound and implied gun violence.
Language: None.
Sexuality: Discussion of sexuality, an intimate scene of a couple in bed with some partial nudity.
Drugs: Onscreen snorting of snuff.
Parents advisory: This cinematic adaptation of a Russian play has some mature elements, but nothing that a teen or older kid shouldn’t be able to handle.
‘AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR’
PG-13
What it’s about: The Avengers assemble their far-flung team to battle Thanos, who is threatening to wipe out half of the universe.
The kid attractor factor: The massive spectacle and beloved characters will be a huge draw for kids.
Violence: A lot of sci-fi/adventure action and violence: fighting, shooting, stabbing and explosions, but not much gore. There are several on-screen deaths.
Language: A few instances of swearing or rude gestures.
Sexuality: A kiss or two.
Drugs: None.
Parents advisory: Appropriate for older kids and teens, but too violent for younger kids.
