Shyanne Sellers scored 26 points for Maryland, but the Terrapins (14-1, 4-1 Big Ten) came up empty down the stretch after leading by seven in the fourth quarter.

A three-point play by Kiki Iriafen gave USC a 75-72 lead with 1:28 to play. Then Rayah Marshall blocked a jumper by Sellers.

Watkins fouled out on an offensive foul with 31 seconds left, but Maryland’s Saylor Poffenbarger missed from 3-point range, and Avery Howell pushed the Trojans’ lead to five with a couple free throws.

With USC (15-1, 5-0) having just joined the Big Ten, this was the first meeting between these teams since 1995.

Iriafen finished with 21 points. Christina Dalce had 15 points and 12 rebounds for Maryland. Kaylene Smikle scored 16 for the Terps but shot 6 of 21.

NO. 9 OHIO STATE 84, NO. 25 MICHIGAN 77>> Jaloni Cambridge scored 22 of her 29 points in the second half, leading No. 9 Ohio State in a comeback 84-77 win against No. 25 Michigan.

NO. 12 KANSAS STATE 71, NO. 22 UTAH 47>> Serena Sundell scored 15 points, Ayoka Lee reached another milestone and No. 12 Kansas State (16-1, 4-0 Big 12 Conference) dominated No. 22 Utah 71-47, the Wildcats’ 11th straight win.

Lee had 14 points to reach 2,450 for her career, which moves her into the top 100 career scorers in NCAA history. Wildcats’ coach Jeff Mittie tied Judy Akers for second on the Kansas State wins list with 206.

NO. 17 WEST VIRGINIA 89, TEXAS TECH 53>> JJ Quinerly scored 17 of her 21 points in the first half when No. 17 West Virginia held Texas Tech to 17 points, and the Mountaineers beat the Lady Raiders 89-53.

Bailey Maupin scored 15 points for Texas Tech (12-5, 1-3).

NEBRASKA 85, NO. 20 MICHIGAN STATE 80>> Alexis Markowski scored a career-high 28 points and Nebraska got its first win over a ranked team, topping No. 20 Michigan State 85-80.

Allison Weidner added 11 points for the Cornhuskers (12-4, 3-2 Big Ten Conference).

Julia Ayrault scored 21 points for the Spartans (12-3, 3-3), who have lost three of four. They also had three players foul out.

Dixon, Villanova upset No. 9 UConn, 68-66

VILLANOVA, Pa>> Eric Dixon scored 18 of his 23 points in the second half and Villanova held on for a 68-66 victory over No. 9 UConn on Wednesday night after the Huskies’ Alex Karaban missed two free throws with 3.1 seconds left.

Wooga Poplar added 18 points for Villanova (11-5, 4-1 Big East), which led by as many as 12 points in the second half.

Solo Ball scored 16 points to lead UConn (12-4, 4-1).

The Huskies played without star freshman Liam McNeeley, out with a right foot injury.

NO. 5 ALABAMA 88, SOUTH CAROLINA 68>> Mark Sears scored 22 points — hitting of 4 of 6 3-pointers — to help No. 5 Alabama beat South Carolina 88-68 for its seventh straight victory.

Aden Holloway added 13 points for the Crimson Tide (13-2, 2-0 Southeastern Conference) in their 10th straight victory over the Gamecocks (10-5, 0-2).

NO. 11 KANSAS 74, ARIZONA STATE 55>> Zeke Mayo scored 23 points and No. 11 Kansas held Arizona State to 13 in the second half of a 74-55 victory.

Hunter Dickinson added 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Jayhawks (11-3, 2-1 Big 12.

Arizona State (10-4, 1-2) was led by Alston Mason with 19 points.

NO. 23 MISSISSIPPI 73, ARKANSAS 66>> Malik Dia scored 21 points to lead No. 23 Mississippi to a 73-66 win over Arkansas, the Rebels’ first win in Fayetteville since 2015.
