San Anselmo

It is with profound sadness that Clarann passed away on December 8, 2024. Iheld her in my arms with her family and friends by her side as she said goodbye to all of us. The memories of her life will live well past December 8th. Clarann is survived by her husband Bob as they entered their 60th year of marriage together. Her son Scott, son Tim and his wife Alicia, along with Clarann's wonderful granddaughters Makaela and Isabela will carry on their mother's and grandmother's memory forever. Clarann was born in San Diego, attended Clairemont High School where she met her husband Bob. She attended San Diego City College and the College of Marin. They married in 1965. Their two sons were born in San Diego in 1968 and 1970. They moved to Costa Mesa in 1971 where Clarann began her career as an educator at Harper Elementary and Mariner's Schools. In 1979 the family moved to San Anselmo, purchased a home that remains the family home today. In 1980 Clarann began her teaching career at Lagunitas School. In 1982 an opportunity arose to become a teacher at Ross Academy Montessori School in Mill Valley and Ross. She purchased both locations of Ross Academy in 1985. In 2009 Clarann sold Ross Academy to three of her long term employees. The school continues today following the legacy and traditions Clarann set forth in 1985. For many years she and her husband Bob traveled throughout the world, visiting Europe multiple times, Scandinavia, New Zealand and Australia, and Canada. In addition, they traveled to the island of Kauai on multiple occasions with their granddaughters Makaela and Isabela. She and her husband Bob also traveled extensively in the United States especially New England. During one of the trips in 2003 they decided to purchase land in Danville, Vermont where they built a log home. They lived there part-time for 11 years. In 2013 they purchased land on Whidbey Island north of Seattle where they built an additional home. In 2019 they moved back to San Anselmo permanently. Being a grandmother was not the only passion enjoyed by Clarann, she was an avid gardener. Her gardens in San Anselmo, Danville, and Whidbey Island reminded one of the beautiful gardens in England. The gardens also were the resting place of the many pets she cared for throughout her life. Clarann was also a wonderful cook, sharing her knowledge and recipes with the family, especially her granddaughters. She and her husband Bob shared a passion for art and built a meaningful collection acquired on their many trips in America and abroad. But her most greatest achievement will be her love and nurturing of her family and friends. I, as her husband will cherish the 66 years we were in love and from the depths of my heart "thank you for loving me" and "my love for you will live forever". Bye for now my love.
