OAKLAND >> A 100-year-old Oakland resident died Sunday in a hit-and-run collision involving the driver of a vehicle, police said.
Authorities early Tuesday identified the man as Tzu-Ta Ko.
Oakland police spokesperson Officer Kim Armstead in a statement said the collision happened shortly after 7 a.m. at the intersection of 19th and Harrison streets. Ko was a pedestrian when he was hit, police said.
The driver drove off in a tan or white Mini Cooper, Armstead said.
No other details about the crash were released. Police do not know if drugs or alcohol were involved.
Officers found Ko with severe head trauma, Armstead said. Medics provided first aid but could not save him.
Tuesday afternoon, police released images taken from surveillance-camera footage of the Mini seen driving away from the intersection.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of a suspect. Police are trying to find the driver and the car involved.
