You want a Cub-like transition on the South Side? Well, keep in mind that the reconstruction of the Cubs came with years of miserable play and lengthy losing streaks. The variable the Sox are missing are the necessary “lemmings” for fans. They show up in great numbers just to bask in the sun, swill overpriced beers and check the latest tweet on their cellphone while watching crummy baseball. The same experiment on the South Side ... will someone queue up the crickets sound effect.

On Nov. 8, Illinois voters will be asked to vote on a Constitutional Amendment that, if passed, will prohibit legislators from raiding our road fund to pay for programs or projects not related to maintaining infrastructure. The road fund is created by the gas and transportation taxes we pay, and it makes perfect sense to protect this money from politicians who frequently seem to think there's nothing wrong with the “rob Peter to pay Paul” notion of managing our tax dollars. Protecting the road fund also means more jobs for the people of Illinois. Vote “Yes” on this Constitutional Amendment.

I'm with Slowik and voting no. The Safe Roads Amendment, which will be on the November ballot, sounds like the Lottery that was supposed to help fund education. Like that scam, the only thing it will do is give Springfield money from transportation fees and taxes and take the money that was earmarked for roads and put it somewhere else, like the pockets of political friends.

It's a shame that politicians spend so much time trying to figure out how to raise taxes. If they spent more time trying to figure out how to save the taxpayers money, government would be so much more efficient.

Tinley Park had the streets cleaned at least twice over the summer when the streets were empty. Now the curbs and gutters are clogged with leaves and debris, and there are no street cleaners in sight. Who runs this town?

I am glad to hear the Illinois Attorney Disciplinary Commission has taken steps to suspend the law license of Rhonda Crawford, the law clerk who impersonated a judge by putting on judge's robes and hearing cases, and she will no longer be eligible to run for judge. She should be disbarred, along with Judge Valerie Turner, who allowed it. Both have made a mockery of our judicial system and show they are unfit to be a judge. I will be taking both of their names into the voting booth with me so I know who NOT to vote for.

I am sick of hearing that politicians are going to help mentally ill people. The politicians threw the mentally ill into the streets 50 years ago and there they stay. These election campaigns are a joke. Does anyone believe them?

My family and I just saw a documentary on a day in the life of JFK and his wife, Jackie. They presented citizens then and now speaking about their interactions between the president and first lady. Most of the citizens loved the closeness between the president, first lady and the common man or woman. Most felt a real connection to the first family. Our reaction to this film was, what a class act. Present company excluded, or in other words, a tough act to follow.

Look on the bright side, the Chicago Bears will probably get a high pick in the next NFL draft. Then as he's leaving the stage he will most certainly break his leg and be out for the first year.
