California Highway Patrol investigators continued on Friday their investigation into a Huntington Beach police cruiser earlier this week colliding with a man on an electric scooter who fell to the ground and was then struck by a second vehicle, authorities said.
The CHP declined to offer many details about the Wednesday night collisions at Beach Boulevard and Heil Avenue on the Huntington Beach-Westminster border, but Duane Graham, a spokesman and officer for the CHP, did clarify on Friday that the man was not on an e-bike as previously reported.
The scooter rider remained in the hospital, Graham said.
The second vehicle’s driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The officer involved in the crash remained on regular duty, Huntington Beach police spokeswoman Jessica Cuchilla said.
