


Calumet Township
A 45-year-old Calumet Township man was stabbed to death early Sunday at his mobile home .
The Lake County Sheriff’s office said one man is in custody in connection with the homicide.
The Lake County Coroner’s office, in a release, said Lee Nedreau Jr., of the 1300 block of Elm Street in the Bremerton Mobile Home Court, was pronounced dead at Methodist Hospitals Northlake campus in Gary, at about 2:30 a.m.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Department reported Nedreau was allegedly stabbed by his niece’s boyfriend. Police found Nedreau’s body in the front yard of his residence.
Police said the suspect fled on foot. At about 5:30 a.m., police received a call regarding a suspicious person in the area of Elm and Colfax streets. Following a two-hour search, police got another call about a suspicious person in a yard in the 4300 block of Colfax Street.
Officers arrested the man and placed him in custody. The homeowner at the address was also taken into custody for allegedly harboring the suspect, police said. Police didn’t identify the suspect or the homeowner.
The coroner’s office called the death a homicide, but listed “pending” as the cause.
