Moya Margaret Ashdown (née Brown) passed away peacefully at home on January 28, 2025, at 89 years old, surrounded by her family. She joins her beloved husband, Gil, son Tim, and her parents.

Born in London, England, on November 28, 1935, Moya immigrated to the U.S. in 1936 with her parents on the SS Britannic, settling in Los Angeles. She attended Catholic schools and later studied at Immaculate Heart College and Los Angeles Junior College She married Gil on March 17, 1957, and together they raised nine children in West Covina.

A devoted wife and mother, Moya dedicated herself to her family while also working at Beverly Hills Transfer & Storage and the West Covina Unified School District. She was a passionate writer, often voicing her opinions on local and social issues in newspaper columns.

Moya’s greatest joy was being a grandmother and great-grandmother, proudly watching her family grow to 70 descendants. She and Gil cherished their retirement years traveling the U.S. and beyond, creating lifelong memories.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Gil (March 2024); son Tim; parents Nora and Sam; in-laws Gilbert and Mabel; brothers-in-law Richard Nason, Barry Henshaw, Robert Ashdown; and sister-in-law Virginia.

Moya is survived by her children: Gil/Candy, Donna Labarrere/Joe, Alison Burnosky/Tom, Kathy Novak/Bob, Carol/Tim Allen, Tony/Amal, Victoria Munoz/Sergio, and Cynthia Santana/Leo, her siblings Michael Brown/Holly, Jeanne Nason, and Hannah Henshaw; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Her Catholic faith, Irish heritage, and family remained central to her life.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to her caregiver, Elsa.
