Sustainable clothing, beauty products and more will be at Sausalito’s Marinship Block Party, a sample sale featuring several Bay Area companies. The open-air market happening today will include Carve Designs, Eddy, ButterSky, Botina Skincare and 8th & Ivy Creamery.

Here’s a look at some of the participants.

Carve Designs

When two friends, Jennifer Hinton and Mill Valley resident Thayer Sylvester, were relaxing during a surfing trip in Mexico, they chatted about the challenges in finding board shorts that fit “real women with real bodies” who had a zest for adventure.

That conversation inspired their company, Carve Designs, which they founded in 2003.

Since then, the surf apparel company has evolved into a complete beach lifestyle brand with an eye on sustainability, with 95% of its line being made from recycled, upcycled and sustainable materials.

During the Marinship Block Party, Carve Designs will offer samples in sizes XS to XL, with prices from $5 to $20.

Eddy

Named as a nod to owner Megan Eddings’ nickname, Eddy was founded in 2022 in San Francisco.

The company’s dresses pair “elevated California bohemia with global inspiration” and have an “emphasis on bold and feminine silhouettes.” Prices for the sale range from $20 to $100.

ButterSky

If you love a luscious lip gloss, check out ButterSky.

It’s a vegan and cruelty-free beauty brand that was founded in 2023 by Tiburon resident Audra Holcombe-Yadav, a professional makeup artist and licensed esthetician, and her aunt Laurie Holcombe.

They created the company to offer high-shine, hydrating lip glosses with skin-loving ingredients that “feel as good as they look.”

8th & Ivy Creamery

Manage to be one of the first 15 people in line at 8th & Ivy Creamery’s table and you’ll score some free ice cream.For everyone else who wants to try the company’s small-batch, high-protein frozen treats, there will be a good supply.

The Oakland company, founded by Stephanie Anderson, offers pints and hand-dipped bars made with whole ingredients and functional nutrition to “redefine what healthy indulgence looks and tastes like.” Prices range from $7 to $14.
