Coroner IDs 2 victims of fatal U.S. 85 collision
The Weld County Coroner’s Office identified two victims of a collision stemming from a police pursuit that killed three people this week on U.S. 85 near Platteville. About 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, the coroner’s office responded to a collision on the highway, just north of Colo. 60, according to a news release.
A northbound GMC Yukon on U.S. 85 crossed the center median into the southbound lanes, colliding head-on with a Toyota 4Runner, the release reports.
The Coroner’s Office identified the victim inside the Toyota 4Runner as 57-year-old Christine Ann Schwarz of Mead.
The driver of the GMC Yukon has been identified as 37-year-old Kayla Dickinson of Evans.
The pursuit began when a patrol deputy stopped Dickinson, according to a news release.
As the deputy approached the GMC Yukon on foot, Dickinson drove away at a high rate of speed, the release states.
