


Former Archie Williams High standout Gilly Roth hit an RBI double to give College of Marin the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth inning of a 5-2 home victory against Yuba on Thursday.
Roth’s double put COM (23-9-1, 13-1 Bay Valley) ahead 3-2. Logan Fiene and Dante Caiati added bases-loaded walks in the bottom of the seventh for the final margin.
Former Novato High standout Derek Bartram hit a two-run homer for COM in the third inning. Starting pitcher Anthony Del Prete allowed three hits and two earned runs over six innings to improve his record to 8-1 on the season.
The first-place Mariners wrap up their three-game set against Yuba (8-23, 3-11) with a 1 p.m. road game Friday. COM closes the regular season with three games against Solano (14-18, 6-8) next week followed by three key games against Los Medanos (19-3, 11-3) the following week.
Prep baseball
Chase Johnson hit a walk-off, two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to lift Redwood to an 8-6 victory against Heritage at the Livermore tournament in Foothill on Thursday.
The Giants (8-5-1) trailed 6-4 going into the bottom of the seventh but scored on a sacrifice fly by Miles Harrison. Jack Moseley later scored on a wild pitch to tie the game and force extra innings.
Johnson, Theo Trono, and T.J. Beck all had two hits apiece for Redwood.
• Dylan Procopio hit a three-run homer as San Marin rolled past Rancho Mirage 10-0 in six innings on Thursday. Procopio’s shot came in the bottom of the third inning and gave San Marin a 9-0 lead. Procopio drove in four runs, Matthew Baldino drove in three, and Joey Cippolina had two RBIs for the Mustangs (9-2). Tanner O’Keefe and Jack Singleton combined to limit Rancho Mirage to five hits.
Prep softball
Anna Held had another big day at the plate and Malliah Foster was dominant on the mound as Marin Catholic secured a 4-0 win against Albany on Thursday.
Held had two hits and drove in three runs, including an RBI single in the top of the fourth to give MC (7-3) a 3-0 lead. Foster struck out 13 in seven innings, allowing three hits and walking one.
Morgan Carlson, Foster, and Lyla Gonzalez had two hits apiece for MC.
