Performance Associates, the city of Loma Linda and the Loma Linda Chamber of Commerce will present a concert by pianists Julie Edwards-Matanga and Bill Shull 5 p.m. Sunday in the Community Room of the Loma Linda Civic Center, 25541 Barton Road.
The concert will feature diverse styles of music by American composers, according to a news release.
Edwards-Matanga, who received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from the University of Redlands, is on the music department faculty at San Bernardino Valley College and Mt. San Jacinto College. She has also taught secondary school choral and instrumental music and has served as a professional accompanist, according to the San Bernardino Valley College website.
In this program, she combines favorites with music by lesser-known composers and explores music from the early 19th century to the present, from the parlor, bordello, academia, church and concert hall to music composed for television and movies, according to the news release.
Bill Shull turned a childhood fascination with his grandmother’s Steinway piano into a career as a musician and piano technician. He received a Master of Music degree from the University of Redlands and is founder and president of Period Piano Center in Redlands, providing conservation for more than 80 pianos.
General admission tickets for the Loma Linda concert are $20 at the door and $15 in advance. Tickets for students and seniors are $10. For information and reservations, call 840-227-4082.
