Hannah Hidalgo had 24 points and five assists and No. 3 Notre Dame extended its winning streak to 16 games with a 91-52 win over No. 21 Cal on Sunday in South Bend, Ind.
Olivia Miles added 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists for Notre Dame (21-2, 12–0 ACC). Sonia Citron chipped in 16 points.
Lulu Twidale scored 14 points for Cal (19-6, 7-5).
Notre Dame bolted to a 44-23 lead by halftime. Cal struggled through a 1-for-9 shooting stretch and committed four turnovers as the Fighting Irish closed the out the final 5:55 of the second quarter on an 11-2 run.
The Bears shot 32%, including 8 for 28 from 3-point range. They turned the ball over 21 times.
The Irish continue to dominate the ACC, picking up their 15th straight regular-season conference win, dating to last season.
Hannah Hidalgo rebounded a missed Cal shot despite being knocked off balance, raced down court and swished a step-back 3-pointer, giving Notre Dame a 59-33 lead in the third quarter.
In the first half, Notre Dame turned seven offensive rebounds into a 15-0 advantage in second-chance points.
Up next for Cal is a home game against Boston College on Thursday. Notre Dame is at Pittsburgh on Thursday.
Stanford DIPS below .500 with road loss >> Visiting Stanford fell to Louisville 74-65 at the KFC Yum! Center, dropping its third consecutive game and falling below the .500 mark.
Sophomore guard Chloe Clardy led the Cardinal (11-12) with 16 points while shooting 7-of-15 from the field.
Senior guard Elena Bosgana contributed a double-double, totaling 14 points and 10 rebounds along with five steals.
Louisville is 17-7.
Saint Mary’s women edge San Francisco >> Saint Mary’s (12-11) ended its four-game losing streak, narrowly defeating San Francisco 52-49.
The Gaels were led by their defense, holding the Dons (11-13) to 29.1 percent from the field.
Redshirt sophomore guard Maia Jones led Saint Mary’s with 16 points to go along with four rebounds and four assists. San Francisco’s graduate forward Emma Trawally Porta led all scorers with 17 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the field and 3-of-6 from distance.
Gaels bounce back with WIN over Oregon State >> Saint Mary’s (21-4) responded to its shocking loss to San Francisco on Thursday with a 63-49 win over Oregon State (17-8) in Corvallis.
Senior guard Augustas Marciulionis recorded his second double-double of the season, totaling a game-high 18 points and 10 assists along with six rebounds and four steals.
Graduate center Mitchell Saxen contributed 15 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.
