Three days after capturing their first Central Coast Section title in 16 years, the Serra baseball team delivered quite the encore.
Tyler Harrison worked a bases-loaded walk with one out in the bottom of the 12th inning, bringing home Evan Bradshaw at third-seeded Serra outlasted No. 6 College Park 2-1 on Tuesday in the first round of the CIF Northern California Division I regionals.
The Padres host to seventh-seeded Los Gatos in the semifinals today.
Bradshaw began the winning rally with a single. Davis Minton followed with a walk and Jack Armstrong singled to right to load the bases. Harrison then walked to end a marathon that included seven strong innings on the mound by College Park’s James Voorhies — he allowed one run — and seven shutout innings in relief by Serra’s Aiden Waters and Minton.
No. 7 Los Gatos 9, No. 2 Franklin-Elk Grove 8: Los Gatos erupted for five runs in the sixth to break a 4-4 tie, then withstood the hosts’ own late rally for an upset victory. Brayden Smith doubled and drove in three runs and Rowen Smith doubled and knocked in two runs to lead Los Gatos (25-5).

The homer was the seventh of the season for Hardcastle, a right-handed pitcher and corner infielder who is rated the nation’s 73rd-best prospect by Baseball America. He is committed to Mississippi State.
The run for Valley Christian (25-8-1) came when Christian Narvarez homered in the third inning to make it 1-0.

No. 5 Menlo School 2, No. 4 Las Lomas 0: Menlo School junior Jackson Flanagan’s breaking pitches were nearly unhittable at Acalanes High to open the NorCal Division IV baseball playoffs.
“The slider was there for the most part,” Flanagan said after he struck out six, walked just one and allowed five hits in six sterling innings. “Some of the best ones, they didn’t swing at though, which was kind of annoying.”
KC Chavinson went 2 for 4 as the only Knight with multiple hits, and Las Lomas’ Cruz Lopez was 2 for 3.
Las Lomas’ season ended when officials determined that its baserunner failed to touch second base on the way back to first after Menlo School snagged a fly ball with two outs, and was tagged out.
Menlo School, the CCS Division V champions, scored twice in the top of the first inning on a double to left by freshman Jack Roeder.

TRACK AND FIELD
It remains unclear whether Clara Adams, the North Salinas sprinter stripped of her gold medal at the California high school track and field championships for cooling off her spikes with a fire extinguisher, has any appeals left.
According to the CIF’strack and field handbook, all appeals must be made in writing to what is described as the “Coaches Corner” — which the handbook says is outlined in National Federation rule 3-5.
Adams was disqualified after celebrating her victory in the girls 400-meter final on Saturday in Clovis with a fire extinguisher, which her dad and sprint coach, David Adams, handed her once she walked off the track. The DQ kept her from claiming the first-place medal and running in the 200 final later in the meet.
David Adams told the Monterey Herald that a protest at the meet was denied.
The CIF has not responded to multiple requests for clarification from the Bay Area News Group and its sister paper, the Monterey Herald.
