Resident of Oakland George L. Gomes passed away peacefully January 11, 2025, at the age of 92. Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. He will be missed.<br><br>George was born and raised in Newport RI. He met and married Jennie Gonsalves in Oakland in 1958. They had 4 children &amp;shared a blessed marriage of nearly 60 yrs.<br><br>George served in the Army and Air Force and served in the Korean War. Later he worked for the United Postal service for over 25 years, then retired at which time he worked as an usher for the Oakland Coliseum (Oakland A’s.) George was known as the Mayor of Section 120.<br><br>George was also one of the founders of the Cape Verdean West Association for Northern California.<br><br>Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jennie and son Michael. He is survived by daughter Sheryl (Timme) Davis, daughter Lisa (Bruce) Crawford and son Anthony (Rhonda) Gomes.<br><br>Celebration of Life will be held on 3/3/25, at 11:30am, Faith Fellowship Church 577 Manor Bl., San Leandro, CA.<div></div><br>
