


Nolan Schanuel hit a run-scoring double in the 11th inning and the visiting Los Angeles Angels defeated the Yankees 1-0 on Monday night, extending New York’s losing streak to a season-high four games.
Schanuel’s one-out, opposite-field hit to left off Jonathan Loáisiga (0-1) scored automatic runner Christian Moore, a Brooklyn native who tripled in the eighth for his first major league hit.
After the Yankees loaded the bases with two outs against Brock Burke in the bottom of the 11th, Hunter Strickland got Anthony Volpe to bounce into a forceout for his first save this year as the Angels improved to 5-0 in extra innings and dropped the Yankees to 1-5.
AL East-leading New York has scored five runs in its last five games and has lost four in a row for the first time since last July 2-5. The Yankees went 1 for 18 with runners in scoring position.
Yankees starter Clarke Schmidt allowed four hits in 7 2/3 innings, retiring 16 straight batters during one stretch. Angels right-hander José Soriano gave up six hits in seven innings.
Phillies 5, Marlins 2: Trea Turner hit a leadoff homer and added two singles as Philadelphia extended its winning streak to five games with a victory at Miami.
Max Kepler also went deep and Alec Bohm had two hits and two RBIs for the Phillies.
Rookie Mick Abel (2-0) threw five innings of one-run ball in his fourth major league start. The 23-year-old right-hander scattered three hits and struck out three.
Kepler snapped a 1-all tie with a solo blast in the fourth. He drove a slider from Miami starter Sandy Alcántara into the seats in right field for his ninth of the season.
Turner’s RBI single in the seventh made it 3-1 before Miami narrowed the deficit on a sacrifice fly by Agustín Ramírez in the eighth.
Philadelphia padded its lead in the ninth on Bohm’s two-run single.
Alcántara (3-8) allowed two runs and five hits in five innings.
Turner hit the second pitch of the game over the wall in center.
Rays 7, Orioles 1: Ryan Pepiot had a season-high 11 strikeouts over eight innings, Jake Mangum went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and Tampa Bay won at home over Baltimore.
Pepiot (4-6) allowed four hits and one earned run in a 98-pitch effort.
The Rays have won four straight and gone 19-6 in their last 25 games.
Brandon Lowe’s two-run homer in the fourth gave the Rays a 5-1 lead.
Orioles starter Zach Eflin (6-3) gave up 12 hits and seven earned runs in five innings.
Rockies 6, Nationals 4: Hunter Goodman homered twice, including a tying shot in the ninth inning, and then Mickey Moniak connected for a two-run drive that gave visiting Colorado a win over Washington, which has lost nine straight.
Kemp an A’s broadcaster: The Athletics announced that longtime MLB player Tony Kemp has joined their broadcast team for select games this season. Kemp made his on-air debut on Monday night as the A’s hosted the Astros.
Kemp, 33, played in 739 MLB games over nine seasons from 2016 to 2024, including 451 games with the A’s from 2020 to 2023. The four-time Roberto Clemente Award nominee announced his retirement on May 15.
The A’s also announced Monday that right-handed pitcher J.T. Ginn had been reinstated from the 15-day injured list and right-hander Grant Holman was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas.
