


Anniversary party at Humble Sea
Humble Sea Brewing Co. (820 Swift St., 831-621-2890, humblesea.com) is hosting an eighth anniversary party this weekend. The main event is Saturday, with a “full anniversary beer drop,” several food trucks (including a Nico’s Ice Cream collab beer float), live music from 2-4 p.m. and face painting. Cracked Cookies will appear, and you can reserve your treats through its Instagram @crackedcookiessc.
As a preview on Friday, there is an “early can release” of My Other Ride is a Submarine (collab with Green Cheek Beer) plus food from The Real Taco (noon to 8 p.m.) and Sleight of Hand (4-8 p.m.). As a final anniversary celebration on Sunday, Humble Sea will host food trucks and offer brunch drinks like “beermosas,” Micheladas and slushies.
Noodle Time serving customers
Noodle Time recently opened at 1314 Ocean St. (the former location of Firehouse Pizza and previously Dunkin’ Donuts). Hours are 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. daily except Tuesdays. Star of Siam (3005 Porter St., 831-479-0366) has reopened. Hours at the Thai restaurant are 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday and Tuesday-Thursday (closed Monday), and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
New Leaf expands glass juice bottle program
When New Leaf Community Markets (newleaf.com) opened the new Capitola location at King’s Plaza Shopping Center last November, it also began using reusable glass bottles at that location for its house-made grab-and-go juices and smoothies. Customers can return these bottles to the store and receive a 50-cent redemption for each one. With the success of this program, New Leaf has now introduced the glass bottles to its other stores. Flavors include Pink Probiotic Smoothie, Heart Beet Juice, Coconut Cloud Smoothie and more.

Dani O Bakeshop continues croissant smash burgers
Dani O Bakeshop, in the Capitola Mall food court, continues to offer its popular croissant breakfast sausage smash burger. The burger, which debuted several days ago and sells out quickly, features fried Glaum eggs, local sausage, Gruyere cheese, homemade sage chimichurri and a house-made croissant. The bakeshop also offers a variety of rotating croissants, sourdough bread and more. Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday-Sunday, or earlier if sold out. Charlie Hong Kong announces higher salmon price
Charlie Hong Kong (1141 Soquel Ave., 831-426-5664, charliehongkong.com) is now charging more for dishes featuring its king Salmon teriyaki. “Due to the Canadian tariff, the price of our organic salmon was increased 25%,” explains restaurant owner Carolyn Rudolph. “We have been serving this salmon from British Columbia for over a decade and our customers enjoy it. We will need to slightly raise our prices. We’re incredibly grateful for the ongoing support of our wonderful community. All people and four-legged furry friends are welcome.”

Animal shelter benefit at Sante Adairius
The annual Top Dog pre-screening “Yappy Hour” is in the late afternoon and early evening March 22 at Sante Adairius Midtown Portal (1315 Water St.). A portion of sales from food and beer benefits the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter. The Top Dog Film Festival, a collection of short dog-themed films from around the world, screens at 7 p.m. that night at the Rio Theatre. A portion of ticket proceeds benefit the shelter.
