New play festival

See new stimulating plays in development when Boulder’s Local Theater Company presents Local Lab, a weekend of staged readings of three new plays. A traveling salesman’s son is determined to find the truth about his aging father’s larger-than-life tales in the musical stage adaptation of the Tim Burton-directed movie “Big Fish,” and the CU School of Music stages the story at 7:30 p.m. Friday, and 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, in the Imig Music Building’s Music Theatre, 1020 18th St., Boulder; $31-$50; cupresents.org.

Space cowboys
