The Macomb Area Conference and its various divisions held its swim and dive meets over the weekend, with several athletes across all divisions qualifying for state with their times.
The MAC Red was won by host Grosse Pointe South with a score of 600. Second place Grosse Pointe North had 368, and Dakota finished in third at 306. Eisenhower and L’Anse Creuse North rounded out the event.
Fraser won the MAC White meet they hosted, with Romeo, Utica, St. Clair and Stevenson following them up.
Chippewa Valley won the MAC Blue with a score of 292. Marysville, Lakeview, host Anchor Bay and Marine City followed them up.
Ford II won the Gold division with a score of 294, beating Warren Woods Tower, L’Anse Creuse, Lamphere and Port Huron Northern.
The Silver was won by Cousino (307), beating Lake Shore, Warren Mott, Sterling Heights and Center Line.
Event winners (Red, White and Blue)
200 medley relay: The GPS team of Mischa Eng, Nicole McEnroe, Caroline Bryan and Lorelei Carr won the race at 1:49.93. GPN (1:56.62) and Dakota (1:59.48) were next up.
Romeo’s team of Alyssa Chambers, Giselle Stone, Isabella Greco and Harper Savage won the White with a 1:54.83. Fraser’s squad of Jayde Lemmon, Anabeth Blehm, Bridget Rutila and Addison Lasley were next with 1:57.53 and Utica’s Ella Sam, Alayna Collins, Mara Marian and Nataly Dempsey finished in 2:02.28.
Chippewa Valley’s team of Rachel Kincher, Emma Meloche, Brooklynn Sims and Madelyn Habel won with a 2:01.16 time. Marysville (2:04.69) and Lakeview’s team of Katie Payne, Jenna Williamson, Bailey Cook and Madison Traskie (2:06.51).
200 freestyle: GPS’s Heidi Bryan won at 1:58.64. GPN’s Cailey Hard (1:59.12) and Dakota’s Natalie Gabriel (2:01.09) were next.
Romeo’s Alyssa Chambers won handily at 1:56.54. Fraser’s Ysa Graham (2:15.27) and Rylee Galat (2:15.68) were second and third.
Bailey Cook from Lakeview won the event with a 2:10.34 ahead of CVHS’s Emma Meloche (2:11.16) and Lakeview’s Ava Hatch (2:18.02).
200 IM: The GPS duo of Mischa Eng (2:09.85) and Nicole McEnroe (2:10.19) led the way. Dakota’s Ella Threlkeld (2:19.07) was third.
Utica’s Ella Sam (2:20.06) came first with the Fraser duo of Addison Lasley (2:21.11) and Anabeth Blehm (2:23.89) up next.
Rachel Kincher from CVHS won the event with a 2:21.79 ahead of Marysville’s Aubrey Hanners (2:30.65) and Lakeview’s Jenna Williamson (2:31.53).
50 freestyle: South’s Whitney Handwork (23.78) came first, North’s Avery Beal (24.04) second and South’s Hannah DiDio (25.38) third.
Olivia Buford from Stevenson won with a 25.34. Romeo’s Harper Savage was second with 26.52 and Utica’s Mara Marian (27.27) was third.
Chippewa Valley got the top two finishers with Brooklynn Sims (26.18) and Sam Hewson (26.75). Marysville’s Quin Eppley was third with 27.95.
1 meter dive: Dakota’s Ariana Heugh won with a score of 404.1. Her teammate Rebecca Plieth came second at 380.24 and Eisenhower’s Sophia Putti had 311.10.
A 350.25 was enough for first for Stevenson’s Aneeka Mondal. St. Clair’s Alyssa Schafer (285.85) and Utica’s Lillian Lee (278.85) were up next.
Anchor Bay’s Brooklyn Shadley won with a 313.6 over Marysville’s Paige Sheldon (306.45) and AB’s Sela Slay (226.95).
100 butterfly: South’s Caroline Bryan won at 55.47. Her teammate, DiDio, had a 59.47 for second and Dakota’s Madison Johannes’ 1:02.53 was third.
Stevenson’s Olivia Buford won the event with a 1:02.40. Utica’s Alayna Collins (1:05.86) and Romeo’s Isabella Greco (1:07.06) were next.
Chippewa Valley’s Brooklynn Sims won the butterfly with a time of 1:03.46, ahead of Marysville’s Aubrey Hanners (1:06.63) and Chippewa Valley’s Madelyn Habel (1:11.82).
100 freestyle: It was a Grosse Pointe sweep in the top three; North’s Avery Beal (52.43), South’s Whitney Handwork (52.56) and North’s Addie Wakefield (56.53).
Fraser’s Addison Lasley finished first with a 56.25 ahead of Utica’s Mara Marian (59.41) and Fraser’s Riley Tury (1:01.49).
Sam Hewsom’s 58.46 won the event for Chippewa Valley, beating Lakeview’s Katie Payne (59.16) and Big Red teammate Bianka Sikora (1:00.88).500 freestyle: Dakota’s Ella Threlkeld won the event with a 5:19.59. South’s Heidi Bryan (5:22.12) and Eisenhower’s Natalie Gabriel (5:22.34) finished next.
Romeo’s Alyssa Chambers (5:22.44) came in first ahead of Utica’s Ella Sam (5:24.88) and teammate Isabella Greco (5:56.78).
Lakeview took the top two finishers, with Bailey Cook (6:02.64) and Ava Hatch (6:08.20) clocking the top times. Anchor Bay’s Natalie Russell (6:12.18) was third.
200 freestyle relay: The South team of Whitney Handwork, Lorelei Carr, Nicole McEnroe and Hannah DiDio finished in 1:39.39 for first. GPN was second at 1:40.09, and the Ike team of Caitlyn LeBel, Bella Lechner, Erin O’Rourke and Natalie Gabriel was third at 1:46.31.
Utica’s team of Mara Marian, Alayna Collins, Nataly Dempsey and Ella Sam finished first in 1:50.79. St. Clair’s squad of Mya Bacon, Bailey Cole, Audrey Cole and Lily Hack were second (1:51.47) and Fraser’s quartet of Ysa Graham, Anabeth Blehm, Riley Tury and Neveah Zatkoff (1:51.62) were third.
The Chippewa Valley squad of Sam Hewsom, Bianka Sikora, Madelyn Habel and Brooklynn Sims finished in 1:50.93 for the win. Marysville (1:54.85) and Marine City (1:59.69) followed them up.
100 backstroke: South’s top two of Caroline Bryan (57.29) and Mischa Eng (57.93) finished top two. Dakota’s Madison Johannes was third at 1:02.02.
Fraser’s Jayde Lemmon finished at the top with a 1:05.01 time. St. Clair’s Alyssa Schafer (1:09.80) and Fraser’s Bridget Rutila (1:11.26) were close behind.
CVHS’s Rachel Kincher won with a 1:00.56 time, beating AB’s Skylar Kelly (1:09.81) and Marysville’s Paige Sheldon (1:11.59).
100 breaststroke: Ike’s Caitlyn LeBel won the Red at 1:10.30 with South’s Lydia Prysak right behind at 1:11.19 and North’s Hadley Beal (1:11.73) in third.
Romeo’s Giselle Stone took first with 1:10.12. Fraser’s Anabeth Blehm (1:11.50) was second and Utica’s Alayna Collins was third at 1:14.36.
Lakeview’s Jenna Williamson won the race with a 1:17.20. Chippewa Valley’s Emma Meloche was second with a 1:18.69 and Anchor Bay’s Natalie Russell finished with a 1:20.36.
400 freestyle relay: South’s team of Whitney Handwork, Hannah DiDio, Mischa Eng and Caroline Bryan finished in 3:35.50 for first. North was second at 3:44.77 and Ike’s team of Natalie Gabriel, Erin O’Rourke, Gabi DiCosmo and Caitlyn LeBel was third at 3:54.59.
Romeo’s team of Harper Savage, Isabella Greco, Giselle Stone and Alyssa Chambers won with a 3:53.51 time. Fraser’s team of Addison Lasley, Neveah Zatkoff, Ysa Graham and Jayde Lemmon were second with a 3:56.90 and St. Clair’s team of Lily Hack, Audrey Cole, Bailey Cole and Gretchen Guevara was third with a 4:20.40.
The Big Reds’ team of Rachel Kincher, Bianka Sikora, Sam Hewsom and Emma Meloche won the relay with a 4:00.18. Lakeview’s team of Bailey Cook, Jenna Williamson, Ava Hatch and Katie Payne clocked a 4:06. 88 and Anchor Bay (Avery Adams, Addison Adams, Skylar Kelly and Natalie Russell) finished third with 4:23.27.
