The Mill Valley Music Festival returns this weekend with two full days of live music, local flavor and laid-back revelry on the expansive grounds behind the Mill Valley Community Center. Now in its fourth year, the family-friendly spring gathering has grown into a signature event that blends big-name talent with community spirit.
This year’s lineup includes Gary Clark Jr., Nile Rodgers & Chic, Monophonics, Jason Crosby’s Crosby Collective, Ghost-Note, Sister Nancy and many more, with additional sets by Bay Area acts curated by Mill Valley’s Sweetwater Music Hall.
In addition to immersive art installations, children’s activities and the Manzanita Marketplace with more than 25 artisans and makers, the all-ages event features an expanded food and drink lineup showcasing nearly a dozen regional restaurants, chefs and food trucks alongside craft breweries and boutique wineries.
Food vendors based in Marin include Novato’s HopMonk Tavern, dishing out Korean beef bowls, veggie curry bowls, Cubanos and mac and cheese; Mill Valley’s Mamahuhu, with fried chicken and fried tofu sandwiches, sweet and sour chicken and sesame noodles; and Mill Valley’s Angela’s Organic Ice Cream, serving scoops, sundaes, cookies and brownies.
From San Francisco, festivalgoers can dig into Nepalese momo dumplings, Gurkha chicken rice plates and mango lassi from Bini’s Kitchen; Yucatán-style quesadillas, burritos, tacos, panuchos, churros and elote tots from Cochinita; chicken tenders, vegan tenders, smash burgers and waffle fries from Respectable Bird; and cheese, pepperoni and pesto slices from Nizario’s Pizza.
Petaluma’s Mariapilar Ice Creamery returns with dipped ice cream bars, frozen bananas and ice cream sandwiches, and the Coffee Tree mobile café will be on hand with pastries, lemonade, iced matcha lattes, flavored lattes and Americanos.
In the Wine Valley tasting garden, sip selections from Sonoma and Napa Valley producers, including Scribe Winery, BloodRoot Wines, West Shore Wine Co., Tannura Family Wines, Wagner Family of Wines and Marine Layer Wines.
New this year is a full-scale indoor beer hall, where local musicians organized in partnership with San Rafael PorchFest will perform acoustic sets throughout the weekend. HopMonk Tavern will host a pretzel and beer cheese pop-up, and beverages will be provided by Fairfax Brewing Co., East Brother Beer Co., Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Oakland United Beerworks, Montucky Cold Snacks and Brooks Dry Cider.
At the new Oasis NA Bar, nonalcoholic drink options include Best Day Brewing, Ceybon, Zeronimo and Culture Pop Soda.
Produced by the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce and Noise Pop Industries, the festival takes place at Friends Field at 180 Camino Alto in Mill Valley.
