Two men have been charged in connection with an off-duty Harvey police officer who was shot at Saturday night but not injured.

Johnathan Andrews Jr., 25, is charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and a parole violation, according to a Harvey news release Tuesday.

Jonheym Jr. Andrews, 19, is charged with one count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, according to the release.

Addresses for the two men were not immediately available.

They were alleged to have been driving a Ford Fusion in an erratic manner at about 6 p.m. on Saturday near the intersection of 154th and Wood streets, firing shots at the officer’s vehicle, with the officer returning their fire, according to the release.

The officer was driving his personal car but was in uniform, according to the release.

The officer was not hit by gunfire, but his personal vehicle’s windshield had numerous bullet holes, according to the release.

Police said after shots were exchanged, the Fusion was driven through a red light at 154th and Wood and struck a Ford Escape.
