Monte Sereno
In Loving Memory of Ted "GP" Geiszler With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of our beloved Ted "GP" (Grandpa) Geiszler of Monte Sereno, California. On Thursday, November 7, 2024, Ted passed away peacefully at home.
Theodore Donald Geiszler was born February 12, 1932, in McIntosh County, North Dakota, the first of three children.
At age 10, his family moved to Lodi, California, where he attended Lodi High School, participating in tennis and swimming, before graduating in 1950. Ted was a Navy Veteran, enlisting in 1951 and serving in the Korean War on the USS Philippine Sea, and was honorably discharged in 1955. He attended San Jose State University, receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1958. His first engineering job was atMel Labs in Palo Alto. Ted started the first of his high-tech companies, Western Microwave, in 1962. He subsequently founded and led four highly successful companies in the electronic security industry: Stellar Systems, Indala Corporation, Keri Systems, and Farpointe Data.
Ted was a true entrepreneur at heart, developing product ideas and handling the business on a macro level.
This provided him with time to pursue his other passions, such as tennis, where he was ranked in Northern California for his age group and was men's champion at The Decathlon Club in Santa Clara, and golf, in which he continued to shoot better than his age into his mid-eighties, and sport fishing in New Zealand where he and Doreen would live nearly six months each year, and where he built and sold abrand of fishing boats called Eclipse.
Ted also dedicated himself to his family, church, and community throughout his life. Many of his friends and family will fondly remember his gifts of homegrown vegetables or roses from his garden and homemade soups, pasta sauce, salsa, and cookies. In the 1980s, he made a significant contribution to help fund the construction of a magnificent building at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Saratoga. Alongside Doreen, he founded Midtown Family Services, which has provided vital support to needy families, helping them secure housing and rebuild their lives.
Ted's love, wisdom, and generosity touched countless people, and his legacy will continue to inspire us all.
On July 4, 1954, he married the love of his life, Doreen Patricia Morrison, reaching 70 years of marriage this year, which we celebrated with agrand family party at La Rinconada Golf Club in Los Gatos. Ted was greeted in heaven by his parents, Theodore and Johanna, his brother Robert, and his sister Joann. He is survived by his wife, Doreen; three sons, Dennis (Martha) of Los Gatos, Steven (Erin) of Mill Valley, and Kenneth (Karen) of Campbell, as well as seven grandchildren Justine (Mike), Justin (Allison), Peter (Mani), Ethan (Alison), Hans (Caro), Emma, and Daniel (Esra), five great-grandchildren, Harper, Finley, Owen, Hudson, and Thiago, and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, all who he loved dearly.
There will be a Celebration of Life at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Saratoga, California, on Saturday, November 23, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the Geiszler family asks that donations be made to Midtown Family Services in honor of his memory. Donations can be made on their website: https://www.midtownfs.org/
