Professor Louisa Ann Sedwick Mar tin ("Ann Martin"), born in Evanston, Illinois, passed away on May 27th, 2024. Ann was 84 years old and living in Louisville, Colorado, with her husband of 62 years, Stanley A. Martin, Jr.

She is survived by her husband, her children, Philip Mar tin (Alison), and Suzanne (Mar tin) Pedersen (Chris), as well as 4 grandchildren: Gabrielle Lopez, Farron Lopez, Lydia Reiff-Martin and Ethan Reiff-Martin. She grew up with 3 sisters in Kenilworth, IL, and is survived by her youngest sister, Sally Sedgwick.

Ann attended the University of Arkansas for her undergraduate degree. S he was also a member of many academic societies such as Mortarboard, Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Who's Who and more. After graduation, Ann focused on raising her family. Later in life, she earned her Ph.D from the University Of Minnesota. She was a notable tenured professor of Accounting at the University of Colorado at Denver, receiving the emeritus designation upon her retirement. Ann continued to be involved with the Kappa Kappa Gamma organization, the sorority she pledged during her undergraduate years.

Ann was a passionate contributor and supporter of The Women's Safe House Project where she taught women in crisis business skills needed to start their own businesses to support themselves and their families.

Ann was dedicated to all things she did. She was involved in the educational system in Laramie, WY, holding the position of President of the School Board while her children attended school in Laramie. Ann led Girl Scout troops as a Troop Leader, along with being Cookie Chair woman in both Lawrence KS and Laramie, WY. Her son and daughter remember making castles out of the many Girl Scout Cookie cases in the basement, garage, and other locations. She was a Den Leader in Boy Scouts and stayed involved throughout her son's advancement to Eagle Scout.

Ann and Stan loved to fish together and explore new areas. She was an avid runner and enjoyed anything outdoors. One of the best descriptions I have heard of Ann is "She was sunshine, and a force to be reckoned with". Anywhere they traveled, they always seemed to know someone. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her, and made an indelible mark on those who had the fortune of being her friend and/or colleague.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 27th.
