A Macomb County teenager was one of several people shot early Sunday — including one fatally — during a rowdy outdoor party in south Oakland County, authorities reported.
Michigan State Police said a 44-year-old Detroit man was killed in the gunfire that also wounded a 15-year-old Macomb resident, and two males, ages 33 and 19, from Detroit.
Investigators did not provide a condition or further information for the three victims.
“There is no suspect (s) information developed as of yet and a motive has not been determined,” MSP said in a news release.
According to State Police, troopers received a 911 call about 1:45 a.m. about a party in Royal Oak Township, but the dispatcher could hear only band and screaming in the background More calls followed informing police of a shooting at the site.
When troopers arrived at the scene, near New Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church in the Ithaca-Wyoming avenues area, they located the Detroit resident with a gunshot wound to the head, police said. Troopers administered first aid including wound dressing and CPR.
The gunshot victim was loaded into the ambulance and troopers drove the ambulance to a local hospital while EMS personnel administered aid. However, the male was pronounced dead when they arrived at the hospital.
Troopers from Metro North, Metro South, and officers from Oak Park arrived and assisted with securing the scene. Investigators said a large crowd from the party were uncooperative and refused to leave the area, but eventually dispersed.
During the on-scene investigation, detectives learned of the three additional gunshot victims with non-fatal wounds at three different local hospitals. They had been transported separately through their own drivers, police said.
State Police said detectives are still gathering evidence, conducting interviews and processing the crime scene.
The investigation is ongoing and further updates will be provided as they become available, according to MSP.
