California State Parks announced Monday morning it will begin cleanup at the Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park starting this week, which includes removal of all fire-damaged debris around the perimeter of the mansion.
Debris inside the mansion will not be part of this cleanup phase, nor any demolition work, according to a news release by the agency.
The news release stated the future of the park has not yet been determined, “however, this cleanup work will allow the structural and cultural assessments that are critical to informing the next steps for planning and recovery.”
A public and stakeholder engagement process including tribal input is expected to be announced this summer.
