Susan Margherone of San Jose died peacefully at home Thursday, November 21, 2024, after a short illness. Originally from Minneapolis, MN, she leaves behind her five children: Tina, Frank (DeAnn), Donnie (Semadawn), Randy, & Jeannie (Ted), and brother Lyle (Dorothy), and her recent partner David. Susan also leaves behind 11 grandchildren (Christine, Maria, Leah, Evan, Joshua, Diamond, Connor, Charlie, Nathan, Jen, and Kaleigh), five great-grandchildren (Jace, Jackson, Dominic, Jaxon, Kaydn and one more on the way), along with many nieces &nephews.

Predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Ed, her daughter Jackie, grandchild Anthony, brothers Steve, Tom, Jerry, and parents Hertha & Francis Knutsen.

Recently, Susan enjoyed celebrating her 81st birthday on November 4th with close family and friends. Susan’s sense of compassion, forgiveness, love, and community was inspirational. This was demonstrated in everything she did in her very full life. Her love of travel took her all over the world to places like Norway, Switzerland, Hawaii, Scotland, and more. In retirement Susan loved to fill her time painting (Rosemaling), playing Canasta, learning square and line dancing, and shopping.

Prior to her long career at General Electric, where she met Ed, Susan was a dedicated worker with Home Savings &Loan and Burks Luggage.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to all the staff at Vitas Healthcare who administer Hospice care in the home, especially Gerlou, Genalyn, Robbie, Rollie, & Martha who ensured Susan was comfortable and well cared for in her final days.

For those who wish to donate in Susan's name, we suggest American Cancer Society, St. Vincent de Paul, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

A funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd: visitation 12:00–1:30PM at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, followed by a 2:00PM burial at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
