George Springer hit a leadoff home run and Bo Bichette had five hits and an RBI as the Blue Jays denied Tampa Bay’s bid to establish Major League Baseball’s post-1900 record for consecutive wins at a season’s start. Tampa Bay’s 13-0 record matched the 1982 Atlanta Braves and 1987 Milwaukee Brewers, trailing only the 20-0 start by the 1884 St. Louis Maroons of the Union Association.

Taijuan Walker pitched six efficient innings, Philadelphia scored five runs in the first three innings and the Phillies beat Cincinnati to snap a three-game losing streak. Walker rode the early lead to his longest outing of the season, allowing four hits and one run. He struck out three and walked two.

Rafael Devers hit his sixth homer of the season to put Boston ahead, and the Red Sox took advantage of three Los Angeles errors to beat the Angels. Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon made two throwing errors, and the Red Sox scored two runs in the sixth inning without recording a hit to make it 5-2. Aaron Loup opened the inning by hitting two batters, and one later scored on the second of Rendon’s miscues. Another run came in on a passed ball by catcher Logan O’Hoppe.

Adley Rutschmann gave Baltimore the lead with a three-run double in the seventh inning in the Orioles’ victory over the Chicago White Sox. The Orioles tagged the Chicago bullpen for all six runs to win for the fourth time in their last five outings.

Cardinals 3, pirates 0

Jake Woodford and three relievers scattered eight hits, Nolan Gorman drove in two runs, and St. Louis beat Pittsburgh. Woodford gave up seven hits in 5 1/3 innings but only one for extra bases, a double by Austin Hedges leading off the fifth. He retired the next three batters to escape that jam.

Nick Maton hit a three-run homer in the 11th inning to give Detroit a victory over San Francisco. Lamonte Wade Jr. gave the Giants a 5-4 lead in the top of the inning with an RBI single, and Camilo Doval struck out two batters with runners on second and third in the bottom of the inning.

Josh Bell hit his first home run since signing with Cleveland, and the Guardians rallied against the Washington bullpen. Will Brennan drove in the go-ahead run in the eighth on a light grounder for Cleveland.

Marlins 5, diamondbacks 1

Trevor Rogers allowed one run in six-plus innings, and Miami beat Madison Bumgarner and Arizona.

Braves 10, royals 3

Matt Olson and Austin Riley hit consecutive home runs in a four-run first inning, and Atlanta went deep five times in a rout of Kansas City. Sam Hilliard, Sean Murphy and Ronald Acuna Jr. also homered for the Braves.

Rangers 6, astros 2

Adolis García hit a two-run homer and Nathaniel Lowe had three RBIs in the Texas victory over Houston. García’s homered to make it 3-0 in the third and Lowe drove in two runs with a single in the fifth to extend the lead to 5-1.

Twins 4, yankees 3

Carlos Correa homered for the second straight game and hit a go-ahead, two-run double in the eighth inning off Clay Holmes as Minnesota rallied to beat the New York.
