Clé Cervi Symons of Denver, Colorado passed away at her home on December 30, 2024. She was 90 years old.

Clé was born “Mary Clare” Cervi on July 22, 1934, to Eulalia Reagan and Eugene Sisto Cervi in Denver, Colorado. She attended St. Mary’s Academy; received her BA in Journalism from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1956; and spent a decade in Manhattan after graduation. When stardom didn’t pan out, she moved back to Denver and worked at the weekly business newspaper her father had started - Cervi’s Rocky Mountain Journal (today known as the Denver Business Journal). She met her husband Bill Symons at the Denver Press Club, they were married on January 15, 1972 and had two daughters. Clé lived a life of service to others. She mentored writers through the Denver Woman’s Press Club, journalists at small papers, and students through The Bridge Project. In her 80s, you could find her helping others at the Harm Reduction Center or Friends of Man. Throughout it all, she was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, a hilarious and loyal friend, and a committed volunteer.

Clé is survived by her daughters Amy Symons (Tom Russell) and Katie Symons (Robin Kniech) of Denver, grandchildren Dan, Aida, and Nathan, siblings Mike Cervi and Carla Cervi, and nine nieces and nephews. Clé was preceded in death by her husband Bill Symons, her parents Eulalia and Gene Cervi, her brother Richard Cervi and her nephew Mike Cervi Jr.

She suffered a stroke on January 26, 2024, which led to complications throughout the past year. The family is grateful to Berkley Hospice, the caregivers of Senior Helpers and to Sydney Daniel and Alicia Greene for all the caring support they provided Clé. Her body was cremated and will be interred next to her husband at Fairmount Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 10, 2025, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the McNichols Building at 144 West Colfax Avenue in Denver. The family will be welcoming visitors to laugh, cry and nosh with them at Cle’s home at 1250 Humboldt, #1304 on January 11-12 from noon to 6:00 p.m. both days. In Clé’s honor, the play-off games will be playing in the background.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Man (https://www.friendsofman. org/) or The Denver Woman’s Press Club (https://dwpconline.org/).
