Police arrest man on suspicion of DUI, speeding

Police arrested an 18-year-old man Friday on suspicion of driving under the influence and speeding, after he crashed into a light pole at Main Street and Ken Pratt Boulevard and his vehicle caught on fire.

There were no injuries as a result of the crash, according to Longmont police Chief Jeff Satur.

The crash disabled the lights at the intersection.

North and southbound traffic on Main Street was temporarily diverted, according to a 4 a.m. Friday Longmont Public Safety post on Facebook. Police reopened the area at about 10:45 a.m. Personnel repairing the lights were still on scene Friday afternoon.

Opioid group receives $500K for facility

The Boulder County Regional Opioid Council has received $500,000 from the Colorado Opioid Abatement Council to go toward a new multi-regional treatment facility.

The facility mainly will offer treatment programs, according to a release from the office of state Attorney General Phil Weiser. The project is in partnership with Clinica Family Health and Wellness and the Broomfield County Opioid Abatement Council, according to the release.

The funding is a part of the $5 million the state has planned to invest in opioid recovery infrastructure, according to the release. The Colorado Attorney General’s Office secured more than $871 million in settlements from opioid manufacturers and distributors for their role in fueling an opioid epidemic, the release said.
