Lynn and Bill’s love story began in the summer of 1963 at U.C. Berkeley where she was taking a foreign language course. She returned to Boulder, CO, and graduated from University of Colorado on June 5, 1964, with a degree in History. Following graduation, she moved to San Francisco and attended SF State where she earned a teaching certificate.

Lynn and Bill married on Aug. 21, 1965, in Livermore, CA, prior to moving to Selma, CA. Lynn began her teaching career that fall at Selma Unified School District while Bill finished his undergraduate degree at Fresno State University.

After Lynn and Bill returned to Berkeley in 1968, Lynn accepted a teaching position at Orinda Union Elementary School District, where she taught for the next 29 years.

Lynn spent most of her tenure there teaching first grade at Del Rey Elementary School in Room 1. They purchased their forever home in Oakland in Oct. 1972.

Lynn and Bill shared a love of many things over their 58 years of marriage. They were avid travelers and loved to experience any cuisine. They were always eager to see the latest movies, attend the theater, or rock out at a sold-out concert. Lynn was surrounded by many friends with whom she shared a love of reading, bridge, running, tennis and golf. She also enjoyed regaling friends with stories of training her guinea pig, Mini, to do tricks like shake hands and play dead.

There will be no formal service or memorial, however as we remember Lynn, let’s celebrate a life filled with laughter, love and adventure.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Lakeside Park Memory Care and Sonata Hospice staff for their exceptional care, compassion, and kindness to Lynn and our family.
