DUI Hit and Run Arrest: On March 30 at around 1:32 a.m., officers responded to a hit-and-run collision between two vehicles on the 40 block of West Court Street. Officers obtained information from the victim, which led them to an address near Cottonwood Street / West Gibson Road. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect vehicle involved in the collision.

Additionally, the vehicle was occupied by 77-year-old Steven Long of Woodland. Further investigation determined Long was the driver of the vehicle at the time of the collision, and he was impaired. Long was arrested and booked at the Yolo County Jail for driving under the influence and hit-and-run-related charges.

False Report of Crimes and Warrants Arrest: On April 2 at around 11:45 p.m., officers responded to a residence to follow up on a trespassing call on the 1300 block of Cottonwood Street where the person contacted provided a false name to law enforcement officers. When officers attempted to contact 36-year-old Amanda Howle of Woodland, an emergency call came in about a possible shooting at another location several miles away.

The call was plotted in the area where officers were trying to contact Howle. The report of the shooting was determined to be unfounded. Howle was on searchable probation and had several warrants for her arrest. Officers entered the residence and found Howle hiding inside. During the investigation, it was determined Howle used a phone to call 9-1-1 to make the report of the shooting. Howle was arrested and booked at the Yolo County Jail for warrants, obstructing an officer, and filing a false report.

Homeless Outreach Street Team Weekly Report

HOST made 58 contacts and offered services to 37 individuals; six accepted services. HOST tagged five camps and cleaned up three. HOST conducted 6 downtown patrols.

One of the HOST Officers contacted an aging member of the unhoused community who has previously been resistant to services. He has a variety of well-known medical issues. The officer contacted him while he was lying on the ground with no blankets in forty-five-degree weather. In their conversation, HOST offered services and ultimately found him a bunk at the shelter on East Beamer Street. With additional support from the crisis clinician, it was discovered he qualified for further services he had not previously accessed. As a result, he will be staying at the shelter for a longer term and will be out of the elements.
