Tech innovations, education and affordable housing will be the focus of Executive Dave Coulter’s upcoming State of the County address.

He’ll also talk about service and how progress is changing residents’ lives.

The speech is an invitation-only event at The Berman Center for the Performing Arts in West Bloomfield. But residents can view Coulter’s speech online at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at oakgov.com/exec by clicking on the State of the County tab or on Facebook, facebook.com/oakgov.EO or the county’s YouTube page, https://www.youtube.com/oakgov. Detroit Public Radio WDET-FM (101.9) will carry the audio. Social media posts related to the the evening will use the hashtag #OCSOTC25

For technology, Coulter will talk about a county partnership with Automation Alley, called Project DIAMOnD, which distributes 3D printers to small- and medium-sized manufacturers. The state has adopted it and will expand it throughout southeast Michigan and across the state.

Coulter will also share the latest figures from Oakland 80, the initiative to help 80% of the county’s residents achieve post-secondary certification or a college degree by 2030. In December, the county received $4.5 million in state grants to train more than 2,400 workers via the county’s Going PRO Talent, which pays for classroom instruction, on-the-job training and apprenticeships.

For housing, he’ll highlight the Oakland Together Housing Trust Fund which is helping build affordable housing using $18 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds and $2 million from the county’s general fund.
