Kansas City chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy was arrested on a felony domestic violence charge in Texas.

Williamson County online jail records on Saturday showed that Worthy was arrested Friday by deputies and held in the county jail on a charge of assault on a family or household member in which their breath was impeded, or choking in common terms.

Williamson County includes parts of Austin, where Worthy played college football at the University of Texas.

The charge is a third-degree felony in Texas, with a possible punishment of two to 10 years in prison. Jail records showed Worthy had not yet posted bond by Saturday morning.

The records did not have any details of the arrest or list an attorney for Worthy.

Bills Rousseau extended >> The Buffalo Bills signed edge rusher Greg Rousseau to a four-year contract extension that’s worth up to $80 million in the team’s latest move to lock up its young core.

Also, long snapper Reid Ferguson is staying in Buffalo after signing a four-year contract before he was eligible to become a free agent next week. The 30-year-old Ferguson is the longest-active tenured player on the Bills roster in having spent his entire eight-year NFL career with the team.

Cole sore >> New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole had imaging on his right elbow, and he expects to know more about the situation in the next couple of days.

Cole, 34, was tagged for six runs and five hits in 2 2/3 innings during a spring training start against Minnesota on Thursday. He told reporters that he felt good during the outing, but he got more and more sore after it was over.

Cole missed the start of last season because of nerve irritation and edema in his right elbow. The six-time All-Star went 8-5 with a 3.41 ERA in 17 starts, then was 1-0 with a 2.17 ERA in five postseason starts.

Rockets rookie Sheppard out with broken thumb >> Houston rookie Reed Sheppard will miss at least four weeks after fracturing his right thumb.

Rockets coach Ime Udoka announced Sheppard’s status and said that the injury is to the top of his thumb and not the lower portion, which is a “better outcome.”

Udoka said Sheppard would be in a splint for about four weeks as he recovers from the injury that occurred in Houston’s win over New Orleans on Friday night, when he slapped down on the ball on a foul on Zion Williamson.

Heat’s Adebayo fined $50,000 >> Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo was fined $50,000 by the NBA for making inappropriate contact with and directing profanity toward a referee.

Adebayo’s actions came after the conclusion of the Heat’s 106-104 loss to Minnesota on Friday, when he missed a 3-point attempt that would have won the game.

Minnesota’s Julius Randle leaped to contest the shot and Adebayo ended up falling to the court after the shot.

Hockey

Stars extend Johnston >> The Dallas Stars signed 21-year-old center Wyatt Johnston to a $42 million, five-year contract extension at the same time that they made the biggest deal at the NHL’s trade deadline in acquiring Mikko Rantanen.

Johnston’s deal on Friday was overshadowed by the Stars getting Rantanen from the Carolina Hurricanes and signing him to a $96 million, eight-year contract extension. But keeping the young center once mentored by Joe Pavelski also is a significant move for Dallas.

Golf

Takeda leads in China >> Rio Takeda of Japan shot a 3-under 69 on Saturday to hold a two-shot lead after three rounds of the LPGA’s Blue Bay tournament on China’s southern island of Hainan.

Takeda was on 9-under 207 going into Sunday’s final round.

The 21-year-old Takeda is looking for her second LPGA tournament victory after winning the Toto Japan Classic four months ago in a six-hole, sudden-death playoff.

Barcelona game postponed after staff member dies >> Barcelona’s home game against Osasuna has been postponed after the death of a member of Barcelona’s medical staff, the Spanish club said.

Fans were informed of the decision minutes before the game was scheduled to kick off Saturday night in Barcelona at Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium.

Barcelona said in a statement that it was “deeply saddened to announce the passing of first-team doctor Carles Miñarro Garcia this evening.”

Pulisic heroic for Milan >> Christian Pulisic was the hero for AC Milan with his two goals helping the Rossoneri end a three-match losing streak in Serie A.

Pulisic first earned and converted a penalty to level the score at 2-2 after Lecce had been leading 2-0. The United States international — who is nicknamed “Captain America” — then scored the late winner in a 3-2 victory at Lecce.

The result saw Milan inch up to eighth in the Italian league. Lecce remained three points above the relegation zone.

League leader Inter Milan also surprisingly had to fight back from two goals down to win 3-2 at home to bottom club Monza. Inter moved four points ahead of second-placed Napoli, which hosts Fiorentina on Sunday.
