A Lafayette man was arrested Thursday for reportedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl multiple times between February 2023 and April 2024.

Marlon Ronaldo Pena Contreras, 27, was arrested on suspicion of two counts of sexual assault; sexual exploitation of a child and enticement of a child.

He was released from custody on a $100,000 bond and is set for a return filing of charges on Tuesday.

According to an affidavit, between Feb. 24, 2023, and April 7, 2024, Pena Contreras reportedly persuaded a minor to send him multiple sexually explicit images and “had intercourse with her against her will” several times in Lafayette.

Police noted in the affidavit that around 5:39 p.m. on May 7, 2024, a family member of the girl reported the incidents of sexual assault to Lafayette police.

The girl later told investigators that in February 2022, right after her 15th birthday, Pena Contreras started following her on TikTok and began texting her. She also stated that Contreras knew she was 15 years old and said he originally told her that he was around 23 years old, according to the affidavit.

According to the affidavit, after talking to her for around a year, the girl said that Pena Contreras told her that he loved her and wanted to be in a relationship. The girl told officers that Pena Contreras told her to not tell anyone they were in a relationship because he could get in trouble.

The girl also told officers that one day in late February 2023, they decided to meet up at a bus stop “going towards the mountains,” according to the affidavit. When they met up, they went into Pena Contreras’ car, where he reportedly digitally penetrated her without consent and sexually assaulted her.

The girl said that she was sexually assaulted on numerous occasions throughout 2023 and 2024 and stated that when she tried to tell him no and push Pena Contreras off of her, he held her down and she was unable to move.

When the girl asked for his age later on, he told her he was 26, and she told investigators she decided to block him because she thought “it was weird his age changed so quickly,” according to the affidavit. However, the girl told police that Pena Contreras made multiple accounts and kept contacting her.

The girl said that when she went to health class, they started talking about the age of consent in Colorado and that “this helped her decide that she didn’t want to have a relationship with (Pena Contreras).”

When she told Pena Contreras that she had another boyfriend her age and didn’t want to see him anymore, Contreras mentioned that sexually explicit images of the girl were on a public Instagram account.

Additionally, when Pena Contreras said he didn’t create the account, the girl stated that this was her first relationship and that she had only sent him the pictures, according to the affidavit.

In response, Pena Contreras said that someone told him that “if he didn’t give them $2,000 then they were going to send all of (the girl’s) pictures to everyone she knows” and asked her to find the money, stating that he could not afford it.

According to the affidavit, shortly after, some of the sexually explicit photos were sent to the girl’s father.

On June 12, 2024, Pena Contreras contacted the girl’s younger sister on TikTok, and when she said that she was 13, he replied with a heart emoji, according to the affidavit.
