Nick + Stef’s Steakhouse, a downtown Los Angeles restaurant that counts business and political leaders as daily regulars, is celebrating a 25-year anniversary this month by doing what it has always done: serving 28-day dry-aged steak specials and its JBS mashed potatoes on various dates.

“I feel proud that it’s been here this long,” said Megan Logan, the executive chef at the Bunker Hill steakhouse, which is known for blending elements of a contemporary steakhouse and modern design with fine dining.

“We have really stayed true to what the brand started as and has always been, and we’ve stayed consistent over the years. I think when people are looking for something specific, if they want a steak, a salad and a martini, they know to come here and that it will satisfy that craving. We’ve been consistent and haven’t tried to keep up with trends,” she said.

From 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, the restaurant will offer a $25 special that includes Caesar salad, a 5-ounce dry-aged New York strip steak and a side of JBS mashed potatoes. The potatoes were named after Joachim Splichal, the chef who started the restaurant. The recipe has remained the same for 25 years, Logan noted.

Then on Oct. 19, it’s the main event with a prix fixe $250 dinner for two that will highlight the restaurant’s all-star offerings like the Caesar salad and barbecue shrimp, a selection of dry-aged rib-eye and New York steaks and sides of JBS potatoes and creamed spinach, plus a shared dessert of liquid chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. This one includes drinks, too, with a choice of restaurant favorites that include an Old Fashioned, Manhattan or glass of red wine.

Happy hour will get happier Monday through Oct. 18 when the restaurant offers extra deals like $2.50 oysters, and wine and whiskey specials.
